Position Overview
Third Horizon is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to support the design, development, and management of the firm’s growing IT infrastructure and Data Information System (DIS) built on Google Cloud Platform. This system has been instrumental in supporting health care advisory services nationwide and is poised for the next phase of development to enable Data as a Service (DaaS) capabilities for analytics, applications, and endpoints.
As a DevOps Engineer, you will collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and business leads to ensure the seamless operation of Third Horizon’s IT infrastructure and the efficient delivery of advisory services. You will also contribute to the evolution of our data systems architecture and DaaS initiatives, leveraging your expertise to create innovative cloud computing solutions.
Third Horizon prefers the DevOps Engineer to be based in Chicago. However, the DevOps Engineer can work remotely with the expectation of travel to Chicago for dedicated planning periods.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Data Systems Development: Build and maintain project data sources, extraction, analysis, and cloud computing management systems
- Collaboration: Work directly with business leads and analysts to structure and generate advisory project data sets
- Support and Troubleshooting: Provide responsive support for data analyst services and troubleshoot system issues as needed
- Team Management: Oversee assignments, sprint schedules, and reviews with internal and external developers and engineers supporting data analytics services
- Operations Management: Provide project management and technical guidance for DevOps initiatives and promote DevOps strategies and implementation goals
- DaaS Development: Participate in designing and implementing Data as a Service (DaaS) solutions
- Cloud Solutions: Translate project data requirements into efficient cloud computing solutions using open-source technologies and tools
- Workflow Optimization: Develop custom workflows and resolve analytic problems through coding and scripting
- Systems Testing: Perform incremental testing to streamline execution, improve efficiency, and minimize errors in processes and deployments
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with the COO, Chief Data & Analytics Officer, and business leads on health-care-related advisory projects
Education and Special Skills
Skills:
- Strong communication (oral and written) and project management skills
- Exceptional problem-solving, troubleshooting, and documentation capabilities
- Process-oriented mindset with an eye for IT best practices and operations in cloud computing environments
- Expertise in Google Cloud Platform, including Google BigQuery data warehouse
- Familiarity with health care data compliance requirements
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in programming languages (PHP, C/C++, R, Python) and development software (Go, Java, JavaScript)
- Experience with SQL for compliance reporting, exploratory data analysis, and machine learning models
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Git, Jira, or GitLab
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating environments and scripting solutions (PowerShell, Python)
- Familiarity with AI and natural language integrated programs
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, IS, or equivalent (extensive IT experience can substitute for a degree)
- Proven track record in cloud computing architecture and operations
- Demonstrated success in managing and deploying development tools and infrastructure
